Growing up in the Midwest, Mike Newman developed an early ear for music, playing both piano and saxophone from an early age. He was introduced to electronic music in 1995, at the age of 16, thanks in large part to Orbital and their hit "Halcyon +On +On." After a year of regularly visiting local record stores for quality electronic CDs, he realized he needed to buy vinyl in order to get quality tracks and started DJing with a turntable and a discman.
At 22, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he fell in love with the house scene and really started putting more time into the music and DJing. His sounds were influenced by everyone from Masters At Work to Kaskade to Pete Tong, and he developed a passion for the soul of house music, always keeping a bit of soulfulness in his DJ sets.
Now residing in Los Angeles, Mike has established a couple of South Bay residencies and has gigs throughout the city, where his style can vary from deep house to techno to big-room vocal house. Currently he cites Axwell, Erick Morillo, Luciano, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello as his biggest influences. Mike is working on producing original tracks and often creates special edits and bootlegs to use in his DJ sets.
Right now we are getting a softer chill side of Mike who also respects and loves downtempo beats!
