rafter2Rafter’s Animal Feelings, out April 13th, struts cleanly from one hit to the next, speakers blowing, bodies moving, club lights flashing. Full of FM-ready pop gems playfully sabotaged by Rafter’s fearless mouth, the album is an exhilarating pop free-for-all recalling Nintendo composer Koji Kondo leading a fantasy camp super-jam with Cody Chesnutt, Justin Timberlake, and the Tom Tom Club.

And if anyone has ever seen Rafter perform live, they’ll know he lets it all shine through for the audience. Rafter’s spirited dance-floor anarchy and fiery-red headed glammerisms make for an unparalleled show that will stand out amongst the rest.

This week our good friends from France, Shine, in celebration of their arrival to San Francisco for their live show at the Red Devil Lounge share with us a sneak peek at one of their new tracks on their forthcoming album.  The relaxing and beautiful track "In High Lands".

Jeff McIlwain’s ever morphing musical project, Lusine, has been in existence for almost 10 years now. Originally a Texas native, Jeff now resides in Seattle. In 1998, he attended Calarts to study 20th century electronic music and sound design for music and film. Soon after, he met Shad Scott and put out a self titled release with Isophlux.

Since then, he has been releasing his music on various labels including Ann Arbor's Ghostly International, Hymen, and U-Cover. His latest release, Language Barrier, was somewhat of a departure, focusing less on rhythmic detail, instead highlighting the layers of ambience that were only briefly touched upon in past releases. McIlwain has also contributed tracks to several labels including Mute, !K7, Kompakt, Asthmatic Kitty, and Shitkatapult for various compilations and remix releases.

He has performed around the US and abroad including a set at London's esteemed Fabric nightclub, and an ambient performance and collaboration with video artist Scott Sunn at Seattle's Triple Door in April. Jeff has recently been involved in two film projects, co-scoring David Gordon Green’s “Snow Angels” (with Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell, 2008), and scoring the film “Linewatch” (dir. Kevin Bray, 2009; with Cuba Gooding Jr., Omari Hardwick) He is currently putting the finishing touches on an upcoming album, and gearing up for future travels in the coming months.

Alexandra Hampton (aka Alexandra) is a talented producer, composer and instrumentalist from New Jersey.  She has recently graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production.

There isn't much out there in the forms of the amazing down tempo artist, La Nuit Del Mar.  All we know is that they put out great lounge tracks and usually appear on Various Artists compilations by the stellar imprint, Audio Lotion Recordings.  This track is taken off the 'Sensual Affiar Vol. 1 - 25 Smooth & Relaxed Lounge Tunes'
